The BMW E36 325i “Ultimate Sleeper” tracktool

“plan was to have a good running car, but not in the M3 look as most people do”

The <1200kg BMW 325i stroker – powered by LITE↯BLOX LBtrack battery

If Jan does not work on his tracktool, he earns his bun as a developer in the automotive industry and also works as a personal driving coach for racetrack and driving safety.

The E36 was bought as 325i in the standard spec without M-package out of 3rd hand and checkbook maintained.

The plan was to have a cheap club sport conversion to have fun on the racetrack. But also motivated by his job as an instructor it was already obvious in the first conversion phase, that it will go a bit more into detail…

Today, Jan drives one of the fastest E36 325i on the Nordschleife and apart from a handful of components nothing seems to be stock anymore:

To save weight, everything was removed and a fiberglass dashboard was used plus reasonable seats, straps and a roll cage for saftey issues.

On the engine Jan has given the engine builder Oliver Sturm Concept complete confidence to built a 2.5L stroker, delivering an appropriate power output.

Of course, the chassis component also had to be adapted to the overall concept. This is where Carl Schwarz from Custom Racetec put his hands. Thus, everything is now stored in Uniball, the body has been adapted in the rear of the fenders to the 235/45 DIREZZA tires on 9×17 MOTEC wheels. In addition, a KW Clubsport suspension has been adapted with minor changes in spring rates.

To fuel the overall concept of the “E36 325i Sleeper” saving more kilos, Jan relies on our brand new LITE↯BLOX LBtrack (2.3kg) battery model with matching adapter plate, saving around 9 additional kilos onto the previously used lightweight lead-acid battery, while providing even more cranking power:
